Sales & Events Manager (Temporary contract)

YOUR MISSION

We are looking for a Temporary Sales & Events Manager to join our Events team in Madrid for a 4-month mission!. This role is not operational: you will not manage events on-site.

Your mission will be to bring events in, generate new business opportunities and build strong relationships with companies, agencies, hotels and strategic partners.

You will play a key role in increasing event sales, expanding our network and strengthening our presence in the corporate and MICE market.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • 💼 Sales & Business Development: Proactively hunt and contact corporate clients, generate leads, and convert proposals into confirmed event bookings. Drive upselling strategies across spaces, formats, and key dates.

  • 🤝 PR, Partnerships & Networking: Build and nurture strong relationships with event agencies, corporate travel agencies, hotels, and strategic partners. Represent the brand at networking events!

  • 📅 Planning & Maximization: Maximise revenue for every booking and ensure seamless handoffs by communicating requirements and pre-orders to operational teams.

  • 📊 Strategy & Reporting: Track sales performance, prepare weekly reports (leads, bookings, revenue), and align commercial strategies with our restaurant teams.

WHO YOU ARE
  • 🧠 Commercial Mindset: Strong sales drive, relationship-oriented, and excellent negotiation skills.

  • Autonomous & Proactive: You are organized, results-driven, and capable of taking full ownership of your pipeline.

  • 💼 Background: Previous experience in sales, hospitality, events, tourism, or agencies is a big plus.

  • 🗣️ Languages: Fluent in Spanish & English (Italian and/or French is a huge cherry on top!).

Job Summary:

The Assistant General Manager at Ballyhoo Hospitality serves as a strategic partner to the General Manager, providing comprehensive operational leadership. This role leads initiatives in recruitment and professional development of the service team—driving sophisticated marketing strategies, and meticulously auditing culinary and service standards. The Assistant General Manager is instrumental in upholding standards and leading with exceptional hospitality.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

These job functions include, but are not limited to, the following duties; additional duties may be assigned.

  • Direct and manage guest service operations

  • Spearhead and promote restaurant programs aimed at delivering exceptional guest experiences

  • Maintain and ensure the highest standards of hospitality are consistently delivered

  • Execute store opening and closing procedures as scheduled

  • Partner with the leadership team to ensure team members are equipped with the knowledge, resources, and tools necessary to excel in their roles

  • Act as a strategic extension of the General Manager in directing the management team

  • Prepare and conduct daily pre-shift meetings and develop effective floor plans

  • Lead recruitment and training of all FOH staff

  • Organize and oversee the staff schedules

  • Complete nightly financial and incident reports

  • Conduct performance evaluations that are timely and constructive

  • Handle discipline and termination of employees in accordance with restaurant policy

  • Coach and develop team members on all aspects of hospitality and service.

  • Cultivate an environment that produces successful employee retention

  • Absorb hourly role when needed to benefit guest experience and success of entire team

  • Conduct facility inspections and report maintenance requirements to the appropriate personnel

  • Contribute and participate in Weekly Manager Meeting

QUALIFICATIONS:

To perform this job successfully, the Assistant General Manager must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.

  • Minimum of 4 years management experience in the restaurant/hospitality industry required

  • Must have a working knowledge of restaurant management and operations

  • Excellent communication skills are essential

  • A genuine interest in creating exceptional guest experiences through hospitality

  • Solutions-oriented approach with the ability to support restaurant goals and objectives

  • Prior experience with restaurant management software systems (i.e. Toast, Resy, Hotschedules) is preferred

  • Demonstrated leadership qualities and the drive to cultivate a hospitality-focused service culture

  • Ability to maintain a standing position for a minimum of eight hours per day

  • Ability to reach, bend, and frequently lift up to 50 pounds
